Book publisher, Doug Weaver will read excerpts and discuss the book “Storm Struck: WHEN SUPERCHARGED WINDS SLAMMED NORTHWEST MICHIGAN”. It was a hundred-year storm, said some. Thin trees snapped like matchsticks; thick ones toppled, one atop another, like felled soldiers. The storm’s straight-wind blast left houses with gaping holes, thousands of residents with no power for days, and parts of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore unrecognizable. Merrith Baughman from Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park Services will also be joining us to give an update of clean up efforts at the park and share information about all the events planned to celebrate the Centennial Birthday of National Parks.
Light refreshments will be provided.
