The Seed Guild

The Seed Guild manages a seed library located in the Grow Benzie studio house to help preserve local and heritage heirloom seeds in Benzie County.

History

Grow Benzie has been saving seeds since the beginning of Grow Benzie.  With all the energy and interest in seeds around the area, Kim Ison volunteered to form the seed guild in order to help preserve local and heritage heirloom seeds from area farmers beginning in 2018.

The seed library isn’t just about what goes in and out of its tiny shelves, it’s also about tracking and telling the stories that come along with the seeds.

Goals:

  1. Provide opportunities for creating, maintaining, and preserving seed diversity.

  2. Preserving local heritage and heirloom seeds.

  3. Offering educational opportunities.
